Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 cup butter, cubed
1 pound fresh mushrooms, chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
2 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon salt
4-3/4 to 5-1/4 cups all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, melt butter. Add mushrooms and onion; saute until tender. Add soy sauce; cook and stir 2 minutes longer. Cool to room temperature., In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the yogurt, honey, salt, mushroom mixture and 2-1/2 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (dough will be sticky)., Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour., Divide dough in half; shape into loaves. Place in two greased 9x5-in. loaf pans. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes. Bake at 400° for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
2 cups thinly sliced fresh mushrooms
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. On an ungreased baking sheet, unroll crescent dough into one long rectangle; press perforations to seal. Prick dough several times with a fork. Bake 5 minutes., Meanwhile, in a bowl, toss mushrooms with melted butter; arrange on crust. Sprinkle with cheese and seasonings. Bake 12-14 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown. This was a lost recipe that I submitted to a church cookbook in 1999. I recently found the cookbook. This recipe won a mushroom contest in the 1990's. I was invited to go to the event in California but could not due to emergency surgery.

1 loaf baked italian or french bread
3/4 c butter
3 or more (to taste) garlic cloves, peeled, minched
1 c fresh mushrooms, preferably oyster or shiitake)
1/4 c parmesan cheese, freshly grated
1 Tbsp fresh oregano or 1 teaspoon dried
1/4 tsp or more (to taste) dried red pepper flakes
3/4 c mozzarella cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  • 2. Cut loaf in half; place on ungreased cookie sheet or baking stone.
  • 3. In a small bowl, combine butter with garlic, mushrooms, Parmesan cheese, oregano and red pepper flakes.
  • 4. Spread mixture evenly over bread halves.
  • 5. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • 6. Remove from oven; top with mozzarella.
  • 7. Return to oven for 5 minutes.
  • 8. Cut each loaf into 8 slices.

1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine, melted
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup dried Italian seasoning

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375. Separate dough into triangles. Place on Medium Round Stone. Spread and roll out dough to cover stone using lightly floured Dough and Pizza Roller.
  • Toss mushrooms with melted butter to coat. Arrange over top of dough. Sprinkle with cheese and seasoning.
  • Bake 15-20 minute or until golden brown. Cut into squares with pizza cutter and serve warm with mini-serving spatula!
