Murray's Spaghetti Sandwiches image

This is an awesome way to eat spaghetti, for kids and adults. I've eaten these since I was a kid and still love them! No buttered Italian bread on the side for me thanks, I'll have my spaghetti Murray style! Buttering the bread really gives this recipe it's pizzaz! This recipe is just a simple guide for pasta and sauce but any recipe would work. It's great for leftover spaghetti too. Just warm the spaghetti in the microwave, and make the sandwiches. YUM! Oh, BTW, Murray is Bird's dad who is famous for his budget meals ;)

Time 30m

Yield 20 sandwiches, 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lb ground beef
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 (32 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce (recommended 2bleu's 2 Minute 2 Easy Pizza Sauce)
1 (8 ounce) box spaghetti, cooked as directed
1 loaf sliced white bread (20 slices)
1 cup butter, room temperature (2 sticks)

Steps:

  • To a large dutch oven over medium-high heat add ground beef and seasoning. Cook until meat is no longer pink.
  • Drain, return meat to pot and add olive oil. Stir in the sauce and cook to heat. Add pasta and toss to combine, heating through.
  • Butter the bread slices and serve them at the table with the spaghetti. Let everyone grab a slice of bread and place a heaping forkful or so of spaghetti into the center of the bread elongated like a hot dog. Fold the bread around it and enjoy!
  • NOTE: Eat over the plate as it can get a bit messy, but in a yummy sort of way. :).

Spaghetti With Fried Eggs image

Here's a quick and delicious pasta dish to make when you have little time, and even less food in the house. All you need is a box of spaghetti, four eggs, olive oil and garlic (Parmesan is a delicious, but optional, addition).

Time 20m

Yield 2 or 3 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

Salt
1/2 pound thin spaghetti
6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil or lard
2 large cloves garlic, lightly smashed and peeled
4 eggs
Freshly ground black pepper
Freshly grated Parmesan or pecorino cheese, optional

Steps:

  • Bring a pot of salted water to the boil. Start the sauce in the next step, and start cooking the pasta when the water boils.
  • Combine garlic and 4 tablespoons of the oil in a small skillet over medium-low heat. Cook the garlic, pressing it into the oil occasionally to release its flavor; it should barely color on both sides. Remove the garlic, and add the remaining oil.
  • Fry the eggs gently in the oil, until the whites are just about set and the yolks still quite runny. Drain the pasta, and toss with the eggs and oil, breaking up the whites as you do. (The eggs will finish cooking in the heat of the pasta.) Season to taste, and serve immediately, with cheese if you like.

Tips:

  • Use a large skillet or Dutch oven to prevent the spaghetti from sticking together.
  • Cook the spaghetti in small batches to ensure that it cooks evenly.
  • Do not overcrowd the skillet or Dutch oven, or the spaghetti will not cook evenly.
  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the spaghetti from the skillet or Dutch oven to prevent it from absorbing too much oil.
  • Drain the spaghetti on paper towels to remove any excess oil.
  • Serve the spaghetti immediately with your favorite sauce.

Conclusion:

Murray's Fried Spaghetti is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a quick and easy meal. With a few simple ingredients, you can create a flavorful and satisfying dish that is sure to please everyone at the table.
