MARGARET'S HOT MULLED WINE

Margaret's Hot Mulled Wine image

My grandmother Margaret loved to entertain. This was one of her favorite beverages for cold, blustery, rainy days. We've served it through the years, usually during the holidays, and it's always a huge hit. If desired, serve flecked with nutmeg.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality red wine. A dry red wine with a medium body, such as a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot, will work well. Avoid using a sweet wine, as it will make the margaritas too sweet.
  • Simmer the wine and spices for at least 30 minutes. This will allow the flavors to meld and develop. You can also simmer the wine for longer, up to an hour, for a more intense flavor.
  • Strain the wine mixture before using it in the margaritas. This will remove any solids, such as pieces of cinnamon stick or cloves.
  • Serve the margaritas immediately. Mulled wine margaritas are best enjoyed when they are hot and fresh.

Conclusion:

Mulled wine margaritas are a delicious and festive twist on the classic margarita. They are perfect for enjoying on a cold winter night or at a holiday party. With their warm and spicy flavor, mulled wine margaritas are sure to be a hit with your guests.
