Recipe from a book called Let the Kids Cook and put out by a local supermarket and distributed in a show bag at the royal agricultural show. Cooking time is chill time. Please feel free to use fruits that are seasonal at the time or what you like, after all the basis is the yogurt and mueslie and the fruit the decoration and for health when using fresh, use what is seasonal.

250 g strawberries (cores removed and sliced)
250 g blueberries
1/2 pineapple (small, peeled and diced)
2 cups muesli (toasted)
2 cups vanilla yogurt

Steps:

  • Combine the fruit in a bowl.
  • Using four glasses (parfait are great), distribute half of the fruit between the four glasses.
  • Add a layer of yoghurt over the fruit and another of muesli.
  • Repeat layers and chill, then serve and enjoy.

This is a nutritious and delicious breakfast cereal. Use any type of dried fruit you desire! You can also use almonds in place of walnuts if you like. Wonderful when served in bowls with milk and fresh berries or sliced fresh fruit.

½ cup toasted wheat germ
½ cup wheat bran
½ cup oat bran
1 cup raisins
½ cup chopped walnuts
¼ cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup raw sunflower seeds

Steps:

  • In a large mixing bowl combine oats, wheat germ, wheat bran, oat bran, dried fruit, nuts, sugar, and seeds. Mix well. Store muesli in an airtight container. It keeps for 2 months at room temperature.
