Time 20m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
1 teaspoon white vinegar
2 tablespoons honey
1 ½ tablespoons coconut oil
⅓ cup yellow popcorn kernals

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, mix together the onion powder and salt. Set aside.
  • In a separate small bowl, mix together the mustard, vinegar, and honey. Set aside.
  • Melt the coconut oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add 3-4 popcorn kernels and cover with the lid. Once they pop, add the rest of the kernels and cover, shaking every 10 seconds, until they begin pop. Once the pops are more than 3 seconds apart, turn off the heat and let sit for 15 seconds to allow any final kernels to pop.
  • Uncover and drizzle the honey mustard mixture over the popcorn. Carefully toss to coat.
  • Sprinkle the salt and onion powder mixture over the popcorn and stir to coat evenly.
  • Transfer to a bowl and eat immediately, or spread in a single layer on a baking sheet and let cool completely before storing in a sealed container for up to 2 days.
  • Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use fresh popcorn kernels. This will ensure that your popcorn pops properly and has a good flavor.
  • Use a large pot or Dutch oven. This will give the popcorn plenty of room to pop and prevent it from burning.
  • Use enough oil. The oil will help to conduct heat and prevent the popcorn from sticking to the pot.
  • Don't overcrowd the pot. If you put too many popcorn kernels in the pot, they won't have enough room to pop properly.
  • Keep the pot covered. This will help to trap the steam and create a more even popping.
  • Shake the pot occasionally. This will help to distribute the heat evenly and prevent the popcorn from burning.
  • Listen for the popping to slow down. When the popping slows down to a few seconds between pops, it's time to remove the pot from the heat.
  • Transfer the popcorn to a serving bowl. Add your favorite toppings, such as butter, salt, pepper, or caramel sauce.

Conclusion:

Making honey popcorn is a quick and easy snack that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a delicious and satisfying treat. So next time you're looking for a sweet and salty snack, give honey popcorn a try.
