Tips:

  • Use fresh apples. Fresh apples will give your cobbler the best flavor and texture. If you use old or mealy apples, your cobbler will be less flavorful and may not hold together as well.
  • Peel and slice the apples thinly. This will help them to cook evenly and quickly.
  • Use a variety of apples. Using a variety of apples will give your cobbler a more complex flavor. Some good options include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Pink Lady apples.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter will make it tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cobbler until the crust is golden brown and the apples are bubbling. This usually takes about 45 minutes.
  • Serve the cobbler warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
