Dash of salt
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Do not scrape down the sides of the pan. Lower heat, insert candy thermometer, and let boil slowly without stirring for about 10 minutes or until soft ball forms when dropped in a cup of cold water (238 degrees F on a candy thermometer). Remove pan from heat and cool. Add vanilla. Beat steadily until fudge loses its gloss. Add nuts. Pour into pan. Cool for 20 minutes and cut into squares. Store in airtight container or wrap in tinfoil.

Tips:

  • Prepare the Ingredients: Before you start baking, measure and gather all the ingredients accurately. Make sure the butter and eggs are at room temperature for better emulsification and a smoother batter.
  • Use Good Quality Chocolate: For a rich and decadent flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate or semisweet chocolate. Look for chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 60%.
  • Don't Overmix the Batter: Overmixing can result in a tough and dense cake. Mix the batter until just combined, being careful not to overbeat.
  • Bake at the Right Temperature: The cake should be baked at 350°F (175°C) for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool the Cake Completely: Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting it. This will help the frosting set properly and prevent it from becoming runny.

Mother's Best Fudge Cake is a classic dessert that is sure to impress. With its rich chocolate flavor, moist texture, and creamy frosting, it's a perfect treat for any occasion. By following these tips, you can create a delicious and unforgettable fudge cake that will be loved by all.
