1 cup water
1 cup mashed banana

  • In a small saucepan, stir together sugar and water. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and allow to cool.
  • When the sugar syrup is cool, stir in bananas. Pour into a freezer - safe baking dish. Freeze for 3 to 4 hours, until set at the edges.

This is an old recipe that belonged to my mother. I've been making this bread since I was a teenager. At a candy striper bake sale a doctor bought this bread and said that this was the best banana bread that he had tasted.

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
⅔ cup white sugar
⅓ cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 cup mashed banana
½ cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Grease an 8x4 inch loaf pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
