1 c whole wheat bread flour
1 tsp anise seed

  • 7. Place on the center shelf of your oven and shut the door. Wait a few minutes and then place a small cast iron pan with cold water on the bottom shelf of the oven. Bake another 15-20 minutes depending on your oven. Remove when nicely golden but not brown.

Time 1h

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
10 g dry yeast
2 cups warm water
1/2 teaspoon white sugar
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix ½ cup flour, salt, yeast and water.
  • You can add ½ teaspoon sugar to activate the yeast effectiveness faster.
  • Cover and let the mixture sit for 5 minutes before using it.
  • Add the remaining flour and oil.
  • Mix and knead, the dough should be firm and smooth.
  • Cover it and let it rest for 30 minutes (depending on the room temperature).
  • Share this into 8 pieces, roll into a ball and flatten with a roller.
  • Preheat your oven to 200°C/400°F.
  • Set aside until the bread itself inflated.
  • Put the bread in the oven for about 20 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients, especially flour and yeast. Freshly milled flour and active dry yeast will yield the best results.
  • Proof the yeast before adding it to the dough. This will help to ensure that the yeast is active and will produce a light and airy bread.
  • Knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic. This will help to develop the gluten in the flour, which will give the bread a chewy texture.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size. This will allow the yeast to produce carbon dioxide gas, which will create air pockets in the bread.
  • Bake the bread in a preheated oven. This will help to create a crispy crust and a fluffy interior.
  • Allow the bread to cool slightly before slicing and serving. This will help to prevent the bread from tearing.

Conclusion:

Moroccan bread, or khobz, is a delicious and versatile bread that can be enjoyed with a variety of meals. It is relatively easy to make, and with a little practice, you can create a perfect loaf of khobz that will impress your friends and family. So next time you're looking for a new bread recipe, give Moroccan bread a try. You won't be disappointed!
