MORNING APPLESAUCE LOAF (OAMC)

Morning Applesauce Loaf (Oamc) image

For those who like (or need) to eat breakfast on the go, this is a great option. Be warned, though, that this cooks at a low temperature for 2 hours, then it really needs to sit for a good day before you slice it (which is not included in the prep time) but it is absolutely awesome with coffee, tea, or milk. You can make this when you have the time and freeze it by the slab (I meant slice) for quick thawing.

Tips:

  • Use ripe apples: For the best flavor, use ripe, sweet apples. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn are all good choices.
  • Peel and core the apples: Before cooking the apples, peel and core them. This will remove the skin and seeds, which can make the applesauce bitter.
  • Cook the apples until they are soft: Cook the apples until they are very soft and can be easily mashed with a fork. This will ensure that the applesauce is smooth.
  • Sweeten the applesauce to taste: Once the applesauce is cooked, sweeten it to taste with sugar, honey, or maple syrup. You can also add spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger for extra flavor.
  • Let the applesauce cool before baking: Before adding the applesauce to the loaf batter, let it cool completely. This will prevent the loaf from becoming too wet.
  • Bake the loaf at a moderate temperature: Bake the loaf at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Conclusion:

This Morning Applesauce Loaf is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast bread. It's perfect for a quick and healthy breakfast or snack. The applesauce makes the loaf moist and flavorful, and the cinnamon and nutmeg add a warm, inviting aroma. This loaf is also a great way to use up any leftover applesauce you may have.
