I got this recipe from my friend Jeff years ago-this is the original recipe for the fantastic sauce on the ribs at the Famous Montgomery Inn Resaurant, Cincinnati OH., Jeff used to use 1/2 of the chili powder and add 2 t. red pepper, for his own personal taste.

1 cup tarragon vinegar
1 1/2 cups sugar
5 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
7 1/2 teaspoons chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons red peppers
16 garlic cloves
7 medium onions
1/2 cup water

  • Combine in saucepan, bring to a boil.
  • Simmer for 1 hour-Strain.

5-6 lbs baby back ribs
Sauce
24 oz ketchup
1 C brown sugar
2 T Worcestershire sauce
2 T chili Powder
1 med onion- chopped fine
1/4- 1/2 t garlic salt
1/2 C tarragon vinegar
2 T grape jelly
1/4 C bourbon

Steps:

  • Boil ribs for 1 hour then drain. Blend all sauce ingredients together in a blender. Coat ribs with sauce & let stand for 15 minutes. Broil (or BBQ) on both sides until brown after coating heavily with sauce.

1/3 cup yellow onion, chopped
3 slices bacon, cut into 1 inch pieces
2 slices bacon, whole
1 cup montgomery inn barbecue sauce
28 ounces pork and beans
1/3 cup brown sugar
2/3 teaspoon dry English-style mustard

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Prepare a 2 quart baking dish with a non-stick baking spray.
  • Saute onion and bacon pieces in a skillet for 2-3 minutes or until onions are translucent.
  • Combine onion mixture, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and dry mustard with the beans and liquid from the beans. Stir well until ingredients are thoroughly combined.
