1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
2 teaspoons vegetable oil

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, 2 teaspoons vegetable oil and 1/2 cup water. Heat soy sauce mixture in a medium saucepan until slightly thickened, about 5-10 minutes; set aside. In a large bowl, combine flank steak and cornstarch. Heat 1/2 cup vegetable oil in a large saucepan. Add beef and fry until browned and cooked through, about 1-2 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate; discard excess oil. 2 Tbsp sesame oil
2 Tbsp dry sherry
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1 garlic clove, crushed

Steps:

  • 1. Slice steak diagonally across grain into 1/8 inch thick strips. Place in a large heavy-duty. zip lock plastic bag. Set aside.
  • 2. Combine hoisin sauce and remaining 8 ingredients; stir well. Pour marinade over steak; seal bag securely. Marinate in refrigerator 8 hours, turning occasionally. Meanwhile, soak wooden skewers in water for at least 10 minutes to prevent them from burning.
