Number Of Ingredients 14

1 pie crust (refrigerated, frozen, or homemade)
6 ounces bacon
10 ounces frozen chopped spinach (thawed)
3 eggs
1 cup evaporated milk (or half and half, whole milk, or part heavy cream)
½ cup ricotta cheese
2 ½ tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground pepper
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese (grated)
1 cup mushrooms (sliced)
1 to 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil

Steps:

  • Place a baking sheet in the oven and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • If using a frozen pie crust, thaw, and keep in the fridge until needed.
  • Put the thawed spinach in a colander and squeeze and drain as much water as possible. Make sure it is very well drained. Set aside.
  • Slice the mushrooms and sauté over medium high heat in a medium skillet with 1 to 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil. Season with salt and pepper. Sauté, stirring frequently, for about 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Cook bacon and chop into small pieces. Place on paper towels to absorb any excess grease. Try baking bacon or making air fryer bacon.
  • Remove the pie crust from the refrigerator. If using a frozen pie crust, place the pie tin in a larger pie dish.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the eggs, evaporated milk, ricotta cheese, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper together until smooth. Stir in the spinach, cheddar cheese, and mushrooms until combined.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared pie crust. Arrange the crumbled bacon on top. (The bacon can also be mixed in with the filling if you prefer.)
  • Carefully place the quiche on the heated baking sheet and bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the middle is just set and is no longer jiggly. Let cool for 15 minutes before cutting into pieces and serving.

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 9-inch pie crust (refrigerated, homemade, or frozen)
4 eggs
1 cup cream (or half and half or whole milk)
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
2 cups flavor additions (see notes for suggestions)

Steps:

  • If using a refrigerated pie sheet or homemade pie crust, roll out pastry dough into a 1/4 inch thick circle and place it into a 9-inch pie pan or 9-inch deep-dish tart pan. Trim off excess pie dough and crimp edges using your fingers. Place pie dough into the freezer for 15 minutes or in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • If using a refrigerated pie sheet or homemade pie crust, line the crust with parchment paper and fill it with dried beans or pie weights. Bake until lightly golden and set, 15 minutes. Remove pie weights and continue baking until the bottom crust is golden, 5 to 10 minutes more. Let cool slightly.
  • If using a frozen-ready to bake pie crust, bake from frozen for 10 minutes at 375 degrees F, before filling with the egg mixture. Let cool slightly.
  • Once the pie crust has been baked, whisk or blend together eggs, cream, salt, pepper, and onion powder until light and fluffy. Gently tap out excess air bubbles.
  • Sprinkle the desired 2 cups of fillings evenly over the cooled crust. Pour the egg mixture over the pie crust. Top with additional cheese if desired.
  • Bake quiche at 375 degrees until eggs are set, about 35-40 minutes, checking on pie crust after 25 minutes, and covering the crust with pie shields or foil to prevent overbrowning. The quiche is done when the edges are set, but the center wiggles slightly.
  • Let quiche cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing and enjoying.

Time 1h41m

Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 14

3 cups frozen bite-size potato nuggets (such as Ore-Ida® Crispy Crowns®)
3 tablespoons butter, melted
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
¾ cup diced ham
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 ¼ cups milk
⅓ cup diced onion
⅓ cup diced green bell pepper
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

  • Bake crust in the preheated oven until golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Combine Cheddar cheese, ham, Parmesan cheese, and flour in a bowl.
  • Beat 4 eggs in a bowl until smooth. Add milk, onion, green bell pepper, salt, onion powder, and garlic powder. Stir into Cheddar cheese mixture until combined. Pour over crust.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality cheese: The cheese is the star of the quiche, so it's important to use a good quality cheese that will melt well. A sharp cheddar, Gruyère, or Swiss cheese are all good choices.
  • Don't overbeat the eggs: Overbeaten eggs will make the quiche tough. Just whisk them until they are combined.
  • Blind-bake the crust: This will help to prevent the crust from becoming soggy.
  • Don't overfill the quiche: The quiche will rise as it bakes, so don't fill the crust more than 3/4 full.
  • Bake the quiche until it is set: The quiche is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Conclusion:

Quiche is a delicious and versatile dish that can be served for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's also a great way to use up leftover vegetables and cheese. With a little planning, you can make a quiche that everyone will enjoy.
