1 3/4 cups oats
1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups dates
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Steps:

  • Filling:.
  • Combine all ingredients and simmer until thickened (don't burn) Set aside and cool.
  • Base:.
  • Lightly grease a 9x9-inch pan.
  • Sift and mix together flour and soda.
  • Combine sugar and oats to flour mixture.
  • Work in butter with fingertips.
  • Pat 1/2 of the mixture onto bottom of pan.
  • Spread filling on patted mixture.
  • Put remaining mixture on top of filling and pat lightly. Bake in 375°F oven for 45 minutes.

3 large eggs
1 c all-purpose flour
1 dash(es) salt
1 c chopped nutmeats
1 c granulated sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 c chopped fine dates
powdered sugar, use after bars are baked and cooled

  • 1. Butter or spray a 13x9-inch baking pan;set aside. Heat oven to 350^.
  • 2. Beat eggs until foamy and then beat in granulated sugar in gradually. Stir dry ingredients together. Add dates and nuts to flour mixture, then stir into egg mixture.
  • 3. Spread mixture(which is thick) into the prepared pan. Bake until firm and delicately brown, bake about 25-30 minutes, so they do not get dry. 1-1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Dash salt
1 cup cold butter, cubed
3/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
Vanilla ice cream, optional

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the dates, brown sugar and orange juice. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 3-4 minutes or until thickened and dates are tender, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla., In a large bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking soda and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. 1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup cold water
1 orange, juice and grated rind of
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 3/4 cups rolled oats
3/4 cup soft butter
1 cup packed brown sugar

Steps:

  • First, make filling.
  • In a heavy saucepan, combine dates, sugar, water, orange juice and grated orange rind.
  • Cover pot and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer, stirring frequently, until dates are tender and all the liquid is absorbed; this will take 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Let mixture cool.
  • Preheat oven to 375F; lightly grease a 9-inch square cake pan and set aside.
