MOM'S BEST SPICED EGGNOG

Mom's Best Spiced Eggnog image

This eggnog recipe was the traditional holiday drink while growing up and now it's the traditional drink in my home. I've tried several nog recipes, but to this day this one is still my favorite. Optional: add brandy or liqueur of choice when serving.

AMAZINGLY GOOD EGGNOG

Amazingly Good Eggnog image

It's taken me several years to perfect this homemade eggnog recipe. Now everyone asks, 'When are you making the eggnog?!' This uses cooked eggs for safety, and you can use more or less rum to taste. It's a bit of work to make, but well worth it. You'll never buy store-bought eggnog again! Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh eggs, milk, and cream will give your eggnog the best flavor. Buy nutmeg and ground cinnamon specifically for this recipe to guarantee optimal freshness.
  • Make sure your eggs are at room temperature: This will help them blend more easily with the other ingredients.
  • Don't overbeat the eggs: Overbeating the eggs will make the eggnog too thick and frothy.
  • Use a strainer: When adding the spices, strain them through a fine-mesh strainer to remove any lumps.
  • Chill the eggnog before serving: This will help the flavors meld together and make the eggnog more refreshing.
  • Garnish the eggnog with grated nutmeg or ground cinnamon: This will add a festive touch and make the eggnog even more delicious.

Conclusion:

This classic spiced eggnog recipe is a delicious and festive holiday drink. With its creamy texture, rich flavor, and warm spices, it's sure to be a hit at your next Christmas or New Year's party. Serve it chilled with a sprinkle of grated nutmeg or ground cinnamon on top for a truly special treat.
