Tips:

  • Use a variety of apples. This will give your apple crisp a more complex flavor and texture. Some good options include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn.
  • Peel and slice the apples thinly. This will help them cook evenly.
  • Don't overcook the apples. They should be tender but still hold their shape.
  • Use a combination of sugar and spices. This will give your apple crisp a sweet and flavorful taste. Some good options include brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Use a thickener. This will help the apple crisp filling thicken up and become more like a sauce. Some good options include cornstarch, flour, or tapioca starch.
  • Top the apple crisp with a crunchy topping. This could be anything from oats and nuts to granola or even pie crust.
  • Bake the apple crisp until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. This will usually take about 30 minutes.
