Yield Makes 1 pint

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 pound halved hulled strawberries
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 pound raspberries
1/2 pound blueberries

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, toss strawberries with sugar. Let sit, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved, 1 hour. Add lemon juice and bring to a boil. Cook, stirring, until berries are soft, 8 to 10 minutes. Add raspberries and blueberries and cook over medium, 25 minutes. Transfer to a clean glass jar, secure lid, and let cool to room temperature.

Tips:

  • Use fresh berries whenever possible. Fresh berries have the best flavor and texture. If you can't find fresh berries, frozen berries will also work. Just be sure to thaw them before using.
  • Choose a variety of berries. The more variety of berries you use, the more complex and flavorful your dish will be. Some good combinations to try include strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
  • Don't overcook the berries. Berries are very delicate and can easily be overcooked. Cook them just until they are heated through, about 5 minutes.
  • Add a little sugar or honey to taste. Berries are naturally sweet, but you may want to add a little sugar or honey to taste. Especially if you are using tart berries like cranberries or gooseberries.
  • Serve mixed berry dream immediately. This dish is best served immediately after it is made. The berries will start to lose their flavor and texture if they sit for too long.

Conclusion:

Mixed berry dream is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is a great way to use up fresh berries, and it can be easily customized to your liking. Whether you serve it as a simple dessert or dress it up with whipped cream or ice cream, mixed berry dream is sure to be a hit.
