Time 6m

Yield 36 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa
3 cups oatmeal
1/2 cup chunky peanut butter

Steps:

  • Add first 5 ingredients to a saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil, and boil 1 minute.
  • remove from heat.
  • Add in oatmeal and peanut butter.
  • Mix well.
  • Spoon by teaspoons to foil.
  • Let cool 15 minutes.
  • Store in airtight container in refrigerator.

Tips:

  • Use room temperature ingredients: This allows the ingredients to mix together more easily and evenly, resulting in a smoother batter and a more consistent cookie.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy: This incorporates air into the batter, which helps to create a light and chewy cookie.
  • Gradually add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition: This prevents the eggs from curdling and ensures that they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  • Add the dry ingredients in three additions, alternating with the milk: This helps to prevent the batter from becoming too thick or dry.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips or nuts at the end: This prevents them from sinking to the bottom of the cookies.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking: This helps to firm up the dough and prevent the cookies from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Bake the cookies at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set: Overbaking will dry out the cookies.
  • Let the cookies cool on a wire rack before serving: This allows the cookies to cool evenly and prevents them from sticking together.

Conclusion:

Missouri Cookies are a classic American cookie that is easy to make and loved by people of all ages. With their chewy texture, chocolatey flavor, and crispy edges, these cookies are sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering. So next time you're in the mood for a sweet treat, give Missouri Cookies a try - you won't be disappointed!
