MISO GLAZED MAHI MAHI

Miso Glazed Mahi Mahi image

I love Miso Glazed fish and this is what I had on hand. Also loved that I cooked it on the George Foreman Grill but I think any electric grill would work. Easy Breezy Dinner in a flash. I served mine with Roasted Asparagus and Green Beans and Tomatoes..NOTE take into consideration how thick your fillets are. I cook mine about 4 minutes per inch thickness.

Provided by Unblond1

Number Of Ingredients 12

2tablespoons2 tablespoons sake or sherry
2tablespoons2 tablespoons miso paste
2tablespoons2 tablespoons mirin
1tablespoon1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2tablespoon1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
PinchPinch hot pepper flakes
1teaspoon1 teaspoon each grated garlic and ginger
Grated zest of one lime
1(6 ounce)1 (6 ounce) Mahi Mahi filet
1tablespoon1 tablespoon chopped scallion
1teaspoon1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Juice of 1 lime

Steps:

  • Whisk together the sake, miso, mirin, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, cayenne and brown sugar in a bowl. Add the Mahi Mahi to a ziplock flipping over in the marinade to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours. Bring Mahi Mahi to room temperature, about 15 minutes, then remove the fish from the marinade and shake off excess. Save the remaining marinade. Heat a small non-stick pan over medium high heat with a small drizzle of sesame oil. Add the fish and cook until done, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove fish from pan to a serving plate. Pour the reserved marinade in the pan and cook until it is reduced by half. Add the scallions and sesame seeds, tossing to mix. Pour over the Mahi Mahi. Squeeze the lime on top, and serve.

Tips:

  • Choose the freshest mahi-mahi available. Look for firm, brightly colored fish with no off odors.
  • Make sure the miso paste is smooth and well blended. If it's too thick, it will be difficult to spread on the fish.
  • Don't overcook the fish. Mahi-mahi is a delicate fish that cooks quickly. Overcooked fish will be dry and tough.
  • Serve the fish immediately. It's best when it's hot and fresh.

Conclusion:

Miso-glazed mahi-mahi is a delicious and healthy dish that's easy to make. It's perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal. Serve it with rice, vegetables, or your favorite side dish. You can also experiment with different types of miso paste to create different flavor profiles. For example, white miso paste will produce a sweeter, milder glaze, while red miso paste will produce a more savory, robust glaze. No matter how you choose to make it, miso-glazed mahi-mahi is sure to be a hit!
