Tips:

  • Ensure accurate measurements: Use a kitchen scale for precise measurements of ingredients, especially flour, to achieve the perfect consistency and texture.
  • Use room temperature ingredients: Bring eggs, butter, and buttermilk to room temperature before mixing. This allows the ingredients to blend smoothly and evenly, resulting in a finer crumb and a more velvety texture.
  • Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy: This step incorporates air into the mixture, creating a lighter and airier cake. Creaming the butter and sugar together for at least 2-3 minutes is essential for achieving the desired texture.
  • Gradually add the eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. This prevents the eggs from curdling and ensures that they are fully incorporated into the batter.
  • Do not overmix the batter: Overmixing can develop the gluten in the flour, resulting in a tough and dense cake. Mix only until the ingredients are well combined and no lumps remain.
  • Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean: This indicates that the cake is fully baked and has reached its ideal doneness.
