ROASTED PEPPER BLENDER SALSA

Roasted Pepper Blender Salsa image

Jarred roasted red peppers lend a smoky sweetness to this silky puree that's as good with chips as it is folded into eggs or drizzled over roasted potatoes.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     condiment

Time 10m

Yield 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup packed fresh cilantro (leaves and thin stems only)
One 12-ounce jar of roasted red peppers, drained
1 clove garlic
1 jalapeno, seeded and chopped
1/2 small red onion, chopped
Juice of 1 lime (about 2 tablespoons)
Kosher salt

Steps:

  • In this order, put the cilantro, roasted red pepper, garlic, jalapeno, onion, lime juice and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a blender. Pulse until broken down but still chunky, scraping the inside of the carafe as necessary.

Tips:

  • Choose the right peppers: For this recipe, it's best to use a variety of mini peppers, such as sweet peppers, bell peppers, and chili peppers. The different colors and flavors of the peppers will add depth and complexity to the salsa.
  • Roast the peppers: Roasting the peppers brings out their natural sweetness and smokiness. You can roast the peppers in a preheated oven or on a grill. If you're roasting them in the oven, toss them with a little olive oil and salt before roasting.
  • Don't overcook the peppers: The peppers should be roasted until they are slightly charred and tender, but not mushy. Overcooked peppers will lose their flavor and texture.
  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh ingredients will give your salsa the best flavor. If possible, use ripe tomatoes, onions, and cilantro.
  • Adjust the spiciness to your taste: If you like spicy salsa, add more chili peppers to the recipe. If you prefer a milder salsa, omit the chili peppers or use fewer of them.

Conclusion:

This mini pepper salsa is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be used in a variety of dishes. It's perfect for tacos, burritos, nachos, and grilled meats. You can also use it as a dipping sauce for chips or vegetables. The salsa is also a good source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, potassium, and fiber. So next time you're looking for a healthy and flavorful salsa, give this mini pepper salsa a try.
