Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 lb ground beef, or chicken, turkey, pork or lamb (lamb not my favorite)
a few potatoes peeled boiled or bake them then skin them
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1-2 beef bouillon, cubes
salt an pepper to taste
1 clove of garlic smashed (optional)
4 small carrots, chopped
peas (optional)
a bit of chopped parsley or baby dill
green beans (optional)
a tad of flour or cornstarch to thicken

Steps:

  • 1. Cook the potatoes... Take the ground meat and onions and set in a pan with just enough water to cover and a tab bit more. Bring to a boil, add salt and pepper and any seasonings you like. Add the carrots and any other vegetable. Cook a few minutes at a boil. Add the cubes of beef bouillon.
  • 2. When all is cooked add a tad of flour or cornstarch to thicken. Serve over mashed potatoes, the cubed potatoes or the baked potatoes. Serve with the chopped parsley or chopped baby dill on top.

Tips:

  • Choose the right mince: Use a mince with a good fat content, such as beef mince or lamb mince. This will help to keep the tatties moist and flavorful.
  • Season the mince well: Be generous with the salt and pepper, and add other spices to taste. This will help to give the tatties a delicious flavor.
  • Cook the mince until it is browned: This will help to seal in the flavor and prevent the mince from becoming dry.
  • Use a good quality stock: The stock you use will make a big difference to the flavor of the tatties. Use a stock that is flavorful and has a good depth of flavor.
  • Cook the tatties until they are tender: The tatties should be cooked until they are soft and fluffy. If they are undercooked, they will be hard and chewy.
  • Serve the tatties with your favorite gravy: Mince tatties are traditionally served with gravy. You can use a simple gravy made with beef stock, or you can make a more elaborate gravy with red wine or mushrooms.

Conclusion:

Mince tatties are a hearty and flavorful dish that is perfect for a family meal. They are easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. With a few simple tips, you can make mince tatties that are sure to impress your family and friends.
