MICROWAVE CARAMEL CORN
Steps:
- Pop the popcorn and discard the unpopped kernels. Pup the popcorn in the paper bag. Mix butter, brown sugar, salt, and Dark Karo Syrup in a glass bowl. Bring mixture to a boil in the microwave and allow it to boil for one minute, then remove and stir. Microwave mixture for one additional minute. Add baking soda and stir until frothy. Pour mixture over popcorn. Close the paper bag and shake well. Microwave the popcorn for 2-3 minutes, removing every 30 seconds to shake and cool the caramel corn so it doesn't burn.
Tips:
- Use a large microwave-safe bowl to make sure the popcorn has enough room to pop and coat evenly in the caramel.
- Be careful not to overcook the caramel, as it can quickly burn. If you're unsure if it's done, err on the side of caution and take it out of the microwave a few seconds early.
- If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can test the caramel by dropping a small amount into a glass of cold water. If it forms a soft ball, it's ready.
- Add your favorite mix-ins, such as nuts, dried fruit, or chocolate chips, to the caramel corn while it's still warm and sticky.
- Store the caramel corn in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
Conclusion:
Microwave caramel corn is a delicious and easy snack that can be made in just a few minutes. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a sweet and crunchy treat that's perfect for parties, movie nights, or anytime you need a quick and satisfying snack.
