Time 55m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 cups old fashioned oats
4 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup dried cherries
1 large apple, unpeeled and grated

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Coat 3-quart casserole or baking pan with cooking spray.
  • In mixing bowl, combine all ingredients.
  • Transfer to baking dish. Sprinkle top with additional almonds.
  • Bake uncovered for 45 minutes. Serve hot.

Tips:

  • Use fresh or frozen fruit. Fresh fruit is always best, but frozen fruit is a great option when fresh fruit is not available. Just be sure to thaw the fruit before using it.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the oatmeal to your liking. The amount of sugar or maple syrup in the recipe is just a suggestion. You can add more or less to taste.
  • Don't overcook the oatmeal. Overcooked oatmeal will be mushy and bland. Cook it just until it is heated through and the oats are tender.

Conclusion:

Michigan Fruit Baked Oatmeal is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or brunch dish. It is packed with fresh fruit and healthy oats, and it can be customized to your liking. With a few simple tips, you can make the perfect bowl of Michigan Fruit Baked Oatmeal every time.
