**Micheladas with Tajín: A Refreshing and Flavorful Mexican Beverage**

Originating in Mexico, Micheladas are a delightful and refreshing alcoholic cocktail typically served in a chilled, salt-rimmed glass. These beverages are a harmonious blend of beer, lime juice, assorted sauces and spices, and Tajín, a Mexican chili-lime seasoning. This article presents three distinct Michelada recipes: the Classic Michelada, the Michelada Loca, and the Michelada de Tamarindo. Each recipe offers a unique flavor profile, catering to diverse preferences. The Classic Michelada is a traditional recipe that balances the flavors of beer, lime, salt, and Tajín. The Michelada Loca adds a touch of spice with the inclusion of hot sauce and a spicy chamoy sauce, while the Michelada de Tamarindo incorporates the tangy and sweet notes of tamarind. These Micheladas are adorned with various garnishes, including lime wedges, cucumber slices, pickled jalapeños, and Tajín powder, enhancing their visual appeal and adding extra layers of flavor.

TAJIN® MICHELADA

Tajin® Michelada image

I'm lucky enough to live in an area with a large Hispanic population and what seems like a Mexican restaurant or taqueria on every corner. They each have their own michelada recipe, and this is my version of my favorite. Maggi®Jugo seasoning can be found in the international aisle of your grocery store or Hispanic markets and provides an umami flavor. You may substitute soy sauce if necessary. Add more hot sauce if you prefer!

Tips for Making Micheladas:

  • Choose your beer wisely: A light-bodied Mexican beer, such as Corona or Modelo, is a classic choice for micheladas. However, you can also use a darker beer, such as a stout or a porter, for a more complex flavor.
  • Use fresh lime juice: Fresh lime juice is essential for a michelada. Bottled or store-bought lime juice will not provide the same flavor.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different spices: Micheladas are a great way to use up leftover spices. Try adding a pinch of chili powder, cumin, or cayenne pepper to your michelada for a unique flavor.
  • Serve your michelada with a tajin rim: Tajin is a Mexican seasoning made from chili peppers, salt, and lime. It adds a delicious salty-sweet-spicy flavor to micheladas.
  • Garnish your michelada with a lime wedge and a celery stalk: This will add a pop of color and flavor to your drink.

Conclusion:

Micheladas are a refreshing and flavorful Mexican drink that are perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you're looking for a new drink to try, give micheladas a try!
