MEXICAN SWISS STEAK

Sue told me about this; she baked in oven but you can use crock pot. If you used the real steak instead of hamburger this is cooked low and slow in oven. She served over rice with corn bread.

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 to 2 lb cubed steak
1 jar(s) (8 oz) salsa (i like the chunky style)
1 small onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 c oil
3 Tbsp flour
1/2 to 1 c shreeded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Pour oil in skillet to get hot. In a ziplock bag mix flour, salt and pepper and shake well. Coat cube steak with flour and place in skillet. Cook both sides until lightly brown.
  • 2. Spray a 9 x 13 inch cooking dish with Pam cooking spray. Add meat to dish. Cover with Salsa, onions, garlic and bell peppers.
  • 3. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 1/2 hour. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and cook another 10 to 20 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality beef for the best flavor. Look for a chuck roast or flank steak that is well-marbled.
  • Don't overcook the steak. It should be cooked to an internal temperature of 135 degrees Fahrenheit for medium-rare, or 145 degrees Fahrenheit for medium.
  • Use a good quality Swiss cheese. A sharp Swiss or Gruyère cheese will give the dish the best flavor.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different vegetables. Other vegetables that can be used in this dish include bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms.
  • Serve the Mexican Swiss Steak with your favorite sides. Mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta are all good options.

Conclusion:

Mexican Swiss Steak is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. It is packed with flavor and can be customized to your liking. Give it a try tonight and see for yourself how delicious it is!
