Tips:

  • Use stale bread: Stale bread absorbs more custard, resulting in a richer, more flavorful bread pudding.
  • Don't overmix the custard: Overmixing the custard can make it tough. Stir just until the eggs are combined with the milk and cream.
  • Let the bread pudding rest: Letting the bread pudding rest for at least 30 minutes before baking allows the bread to absorb the custard and the flavors to meld.
  • Bake the bread pudding in a water bath: Baking the bread pudding in a water bath helps to create a moist, evenly cooked pudding.
  • Serve the bread pudding warm or at room temperature: Bread pudding is best served warm or at room temperature. If you chill it, it will become more firm.

Conclusion:

Bread pudding is a classic dessert that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With a few simple tips, you can make a bread pudding that is moist, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. So next time you have some stale bread, don't throw it away. Make bread pudding instead!
