THE BEST BEER CHEESE

The Best Beer Cheese image

Tried about 5 different beer cheese recipes, and just couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I finally found one on the McCormick website, I believe, that I jazzed up a bit. Wonderful with pretzels!

Provided by C in PA

Categories     Cheese

Time 25m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

8 ounces sharp white cheddar cheese
4 ounces cream cheese, room temp
1/3 cup beer (I use either light beer or a pale ale)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon crushed dried cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon italian seasoning

Steps:

  • In food processor, blend cheddar, cream cheese, beer, worcestershire, chili powder, mustard, red pepper, and garlic.
  • Blend for 5 minutes, or until creamy.
  • Add in parsley, blend 1 more minute.
  • Pour into bowl, cover, and chill in refrigerator.
  • Cheese will firm.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality beer. The flavor of the beer will come through in the cheese, so choose one that you enjoy drinking.
  • Shred your own cheese. Pre-shredded cheese contains additives that can prevent it from melting smoothly.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. If you add too much cheese to the pan at once, it will not melt evenly and will become clumpy.
  • Stir constantly. This will help to prevent the cheese from burning and will also help to incorporate the beer and other ingredients evenly.
  • Serve immediately. Beer cheese is best served warm and fresh out of the pan.

Conclusion:

Beer cheese is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It can be served with pretzels, crackers, vegetables, or even used as a dip for chicken or fish. With its rich and cheesy flavor, beer cheese is sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering.
