This hummus pasta salad is a hearty side dish, but it could be a nice meatless main dish as well. Add the dressing while the pasta is still warm to allow the pasta to absorb some of the dressing. -Michelle Morrow, Newmarket, New Hampshire

Tips for Making the Best Mediterranean Pasta Salad with Hummus:
- Use fresh, flavorful ingredients. High-quality ingredients will make all the difference in the taste of your salad. Look for ripe vegetables, firm pasta, and creamy hummus.
- Don't overcook the pasta. Al dente pasta is the best choice for this salad. It will hold its shape and won't get mushy.
- Let the pasta cool completely before adding the other ingredients. This will help prevent the salad from becoming watery.
- Use a variety of vegetables. The more colorful and varied the vegetables, the more flavorful the salad will be. Some good choices include tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, bell peppers, and olives.
- Add some protein. Grilled chicken, shrimp, or tofu are all great options for adding protein to this salad.
- Don't skimp on the hummus. Hummus is the key ingredient in this salad, so make sure to use a good-quality brand. You can also use flavored hummus, such as roasted red pepper hummus or lemon-herb hummus.
- Season the salad to taste. Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste. You can also add a squeeze of lemon juice or a drizzle of olive oil for extra flavor.
