Tips:
- Choose high-quality ground beef. Look for ground chuck or sirloin with a fat content of 15-20%. This will ensure that your meatloaf is moist and flavorful.
- Use fresh herbs and spices. Dried herbs and spices can be used, but fresh herbs will give your meatloaf a more intense flavor.
- Don't overmix the meatloaf mixture. Overmixing can make the meatloaf tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
- Shape the meatloaf into a loaf shape. This will help it cook evenly.
- Cook the meatloaf at a moderate temperature. A temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal.
- Baste the meatloaf with drippings during cooking. This will help keep it moist.
- Let the meatloaf rest before slicing. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the meatloaf.
Conclusion:
Meatloaf al Italiano is a classic comfort food that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With its combination of ground beef, Italian sausage, bread crumbs, eggs, and spices, this meatloaf is packed with flavor. The addition of mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese makes it extra cheesy and gooey. Serve this meatloaf with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, green beans, or a salad.
