MEAT CAKE

Meat Cake image

This is my recipe for meat loaf. However, I have always cooked it in a 9x11 pyrex baking dish so my husband calls it meat cake. It even has an "icing " on top. I usually make mashed potatoes and a green vegetable to go with this. I also have enough leftovers to make meat cake sandwiches later in the week. The meat cake sandwiches are delicious.

Tips:

  • Choose High-Quality Beef: Opt for lean ground beef with a fat content of 15% or less to ensure a succulent and flavorful meatloaf.
  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh vegetables, herbs, and spices elevate the taste of your meatloaf. Finely chop or grate the vegetables for even distribution.
  • Don't Overmix: Mixing the ingredients excessively can result in a tough and dense meatloaf. Gently combine everything until just blended.
  • Shape Properly: Form the meatloaf mixture into a compact and even loaf shape. This helps ensure uniform cooking and prevents it from falling apart.
  • Cook Thoroughly: Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature of the meatloaf reaches a safe 160°F (71°C) before removing it from the oven.

With careful attention to ingredient selection, preparation, and cooking techniques, you can create a delicious and satisfying meatloaf that will be a hit at any gathering.
