DINNER IN A BAG

Dinner in a Bag image

I got this out of a quick cooking magazine, but I want to modify it for OMAC. The original was to mix spices and store them with the elbow noodles and a can of tomatoes, to add to browned hamburger later. I want to make a whole bunch of it and freeze it for later. I'll write a review after I've done it so we'll know if it worked or not*grin* I'll also add a prep time.

MEAL-IN-A-BAG

I just love this recipe. It so versatile! Since each person gets their own bag they can have their own vegetables. My friend likes mushroom, but I don't. We each get what we want.

Categories     One Dish Meal

Time 1h5m

Yield 4 bags

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 lbs poultry (I prefer ground beef.) or 2 lbs pork (I prefer ground beef.)
4 cups vegetables, chopped if needed (I suggest baby red potatoes, baby carrots, peas, and onions. My friend likes mushrooms too.)
basil or garlic
salt and pepper
4 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 fahrenheit.
  • Separate meat into four equal portions.
  • Place each portion onto a separate sheet of aluminum foil.
  • Sprinkle seasoning onto meat.
  • Add salt and pepper.
  • Place 2 cups of vegetables on top of each portion of meat.
  • Add a tablespoon of butter onto each portion.
  • Fold the aluminum around each portion to create a bag.
  • Place each bag in a baking dish.
  • Bake until done, about 45 minutes.
  • Serve hot.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh ingredients: The quality of your ingredients will directly impact the taste of your meal. Use fresh vegetables, fruits, and proteins whenever possible.
  • Use a variety of ingredients: Don't be afraid to experiment with different flavors and textures. Mixing and matching different ingredients can create delicious and unique meals.
  • Don't overcook your food: Overcooked food can be tough and dry. Cook your food until it is just cooked through to retain its nutrients and flavor.
  • Season your food well: Salt and pepper are essential seasonings, but don't be afraid to experiment with other herbs and spices. A well-seasoned meal is always more flavorful.
  • Pack your meals carefully: Make sure your meals are packed tightly so that they don't spill or leak. You may also want to use a cooler bag to keep your meals cold until you're ready to eat them.

Conclusion:

Meal-in-a-bag recipes are a great way to enjoy delicious, healthy meals on the go. With a little planning and preparation, you can create a variety of meals that are perfect for lunch, dinner, or snacks. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give meal-in-a-bag a try!
