1 square (1-oz.) unsweetened chocolate
1 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup finely chopped nut meats

  • Combine Eagle Brand and chocolates in top of double boiler. Cook over fast-boiling water 15 minutes. Remove from heat.

12 oz. package semisweet chocolate chips
14 oz. can Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
dash of salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts optional (I used chopped pecans.)

Steps:

  • In the top of a double boiler, melt chocolate over hot water. Remove from heat. Add sweetened condensed milk, vanilla, salt, and, if desired, nuts. Stir until smooth. Turn into a waxed paper-lined 8-inch square pan. (I used a 9-inch square pan, sprayed with cooking oil, which worked well.) Chill. Cut into pieces and store in an airtight container. 2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened baking chocolate
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup milk
2 cups white sugar
1 pinch salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Butter a 9x9 inch dish.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine chocolate, butter and milk. Bring to a boil and let boil 1 minute. Stir in sugar and salt until dissolved. Heat, stirring constantly, to between 234 and 240 degrees F (112 to 116 degrees C), or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms a soft ball that flattens when removed from the water and placed on a flat surface.
