Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 10

8 ounces Crab Meat
8 ounces Cream Cheese, Softened
1/2 cup Sour Cream
2 tbsp Mayonnaise
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
1 1/4 tsp Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 tsp Dry Mustard
1/4 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 pinch Garlic Salt
2 tsp Old Bay Seasoning

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, mix cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, dry mustard, and garlic salt until smooth.
  • Stir in 2 tbsp of shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Fold crab meat into the mixture.
  • Pour mixture into a 1 quart casserole dish.
  • Top with remaining cheese, or more. But not too much because you don't want the cheese to overtake the taste of the crab.
  • Sprinkle Old Bay Seasoning on top of the crab dip sparingly.
  • Bake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 30 minutes or until the top is browned.
  • Serve with crackers, toasted bread, celery sticks, or parmesan crisps. And of course keep the Old Bay Seasoning handy for extra shakes!

Tips:

  • Use Fresh Crab Meat: Fresh crab meat is crucial for the best flavor. If you can't find fresh crab meat, frozen crab meat will also work, but make sure to thaw it completely before using.
  • Don't Overcook the Crab: Crab meat cooks quickly, so be careful not to overcook it. Overcooked crab will become tough and rubbery.
  • Use High-Quality Cream Cheese: High-quality cream cheese will make your dip smooth and creamy. Avoid using low-fat or non-fat cream cheese, as it will make the dip grainy.
  • Use a Variety of Cheeses: Using a variety of cheeses will give your dip a more complex flavor. Try using a combination of cream cheese, cheddar, Parmesan, and mozzarella.
  • Add Some Herbs and Spices: Herbs and spices will add flavor and depth to your dip. Try adding some Old Bay seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, or onion powder.
  • Serve with Crackers or Vegetables: Maryland crab dip is traditionally served with crackers or vegetables. You can also serve it with bread or chips.

Conclusion:

Maryland crab dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. It is made with fresh crab meat, cream cheese, a variety of cheeses, and herbs and spices. This dip is sure to be a hit at your next party or gathering. So, next time you are looking for a delicious and easy appetizer, give Maryland crab dip a try. You won't be disappointed!
