Steps:
- Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions. In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk milk and eggs; pour over flour mixture, and whisk gently to combine (don't overmix). Gently whisk in butter.
- Following manufacturer's instructions, cook waffles until deep brown and crisp. (For a standard waffle iron, pour a generous 1/2 cup of batter into center, spreading to within 1/2 inch of edges, and close; waffle will cook in 2 to 3 minutes.) Serve warm, with maple syrup and butter, as desired.
BERRY WAFFLES
Steps:
- Preheat waffle iron and read manufacturer's instructions. Melt butter in microwave. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and sugar. In another bowl, beat together yogurt, milk and egg. Whisk liquid mixture into dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in frozen berries. Stir in melted butter. Brush hot waffle iron with butter or spray. Spoon about 1/2 cup of batter onto iron, smooth out with back of spoon and close to cook. This first waffle will be the tester. Cook waffle until golden brown. Remove to plate and keep warm. Serve with butter, maple syrup or blueberry syrup.

Steps:
- Weigh all the dry ingredients, place in a large mixing bowl. Break the eggs into the milk and beat the mixture.
- Add the egg and milk mixture to the dry ingredients. Add the oil and mix all ingredients together until all the large lumps have been broken up. Do not over mix otherwise the waffles will be heavy when cooked.
- Pre heat the waffle maker and spray with oil (1 cal spray works well).
- Pour 3/4 of a cup of batter into the waffle maker and cook for 3-4 mins or until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
- Serve hot with maple syrup. Also good served with sliced banana or blueberries.
- Cooked waffles can be frozen and heated up in the toaster. Unused batter mixture can be kept in a container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Tips for Perfect Waffles:
- Use fresh baking powder and baking soda. Old baking powder and baking soda can result in flat, dense waffles.
- Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can result in tough waffles.
- Let the batter rest for a few minutes before cooking. This allows the gluten in the flour to relax, resulting in lighter, fluffier waffles.
- Make sure your waffle iron is hot before cooking. If the waffle iron is not hot enough, the waffles will not cook evenly.
- Don't overcrowd the waffle iron. Cooking too many waffles at once can result in unevenly cooked waffles.
- Cook the waffles until they are golden brown and crispy. Undercooked waffles will be soft and mushy.
- Serve the waffles immediately with your favorite toppings. Waffles are best when served hot and fresh.
Conclusion:
Mary Berry's waffle recipes are a great way to start your day or enjoy a special treat. With a variety of flavors and toppings to choose from, there's a waffle recipe for everyone. Follow the tips above to ensure your waffles turn out perfect every time.
