MARSHMALLOW POPCORN BALLS RECIPE - (4.3/5)

Marshmallow Popcorn Balls Recipe - (4.3/5) image

Provided by Foodiewife

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 tablespoons (1/4-cup) unsalted butter
10 ounces marshmallows (you can use regular sized or mini marshmallows)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
12 cups popcorn

Steps:

  • Prepare the popcorn (I use 1/2 cup popcorn kernels with 2 tablespoons coconut oil). Place the popcorn into a large bowl, and remove any un-popped kernels. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the marshmallows, vanilla and salt. Heat, stirring constantly, until the marshmallows are completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Shortcut: I melted all of the ingredients in a microwave (3 to 4 minutes) stirring a couple of times in between. I like to use disposable gloves, sprayed with non-stick spray to easily form the popcorn balls. Allow to set for at least an hour, so the popcorn balls stay stuck together. That's hard to do, as my family gets into them as fast as I can make them!

Caramel Marshmallow Krispy Balls image

OMGosh...I've been wanting to post this candy ball thing, like forever. But I only knew them as Horse Turds, that's what we called them, its what we were told they were called growing up. I didn't know if I dare post something called horse turds...well, I was on the taste of home recipe site earlier and I found these, the same...

Categories     Candies

Number Of Ingredients 5

10 c rice krispies or a little more
2 pkg large marshmallows, you probably won't use them all
2 - 14 oz pkg of caramels, unwrapped
1 can(s) sweetened condensed milk
1 c butter, softened

Steps:

  • 1. Lay wax paper over counter tops or table. Place rice krispies into a large bowl, set next to wax paper. Open marshmallows and have handy near wax paper. In a large heavy saucepan over medium heat, melt together caramels, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Cook and stir until caramels are melted and the mixture is smooth. Place pan near wax paper on a hot pad. Have 2 forks, one to stab the marshmallow and one to help remove it from fork. Dip marshmallow into caramel, roll in rice krispies, then set on wax paper. Continue until all caramel is gone. If caramel starts to harden, you can return to stovetop to melt again. Allow to set up or dry at room temperature. For a quicker set up, place in freezer for 30 minutes. Serve at room temperature. Store in air tight containers in refrigerator or freezer. Can be left out all day on a goodie tray with no problems.

Tips:

  • Use fresh marshmallows. Stale marshmallows will not melt properly and will result in a grainy texture.
  • Do not overcook the marshmallows. Overcooked marshmallows will become too thick and chewy.
  • Add the butter and vanilla extract after the marshmallows have melted. This will help to prevent the marshmallows from curdling.
  • Work quickly when dipping the marshmallows in the chocolate. The chocolate will start to set quickly, so you need to work quickly to get all of the marshmallows coated.
  • Chill the marshmallow balls before serving. This will help to set the chocolate and make the balls easier to handle.

Conclusion:

Marshmallow balls are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are perfect for parties, potlucks, or just a simple snack. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a batch of marshmallow balls that will be sure to please everyone.
