BOOZY MARGARITA POPSICLE RECIPE

Warm the water a bit to help dissolve the sugar. It shouldn't be hot, about 30 seconds in the microwave or briefly on the stove is sufficient. We will often make them with a touch more tequila, but they won't freeze as solid. If you are using a mold which easily release the pops feel free to use about 1/3 cup of tequila instead of the 1/4 cup.Makes ten 2.5 ounce Pops

Time 4h5m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 3/4 cups warm Water
3/4 cup Sugar
2/3 cup fresh Lime Juice
1/4 cup Tequila
1 Tablespoon Orange Liqueur ((Grand Marnier, Cointreau, triple sec, etc.))
optional 1 lime, cut into thin slices
optional - kosher or sea salt (, for garnishing pops)

Steps:

  • If using wooden ice pop sticks, soak sticks for an hour in warm water before making pops (helps minimize them from floating up when inserted into molds.)
  • In bowl, stir together water, sugar, lime juice, tequila, and orange liqueur. Make sure sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Pour and divide the margarita mixture between 10 ice pop molds. (optional) Add a thin slice of lime into each pop mold.
  • Insert popsicle sticks and freeze for 4 hours or until completely solid.(optional) Before serving, dip or sprinkle some salt on the tips of the un-molded pops.

THE PERFECT MARGARITA

The Perfect Margarita image

Mastering the margarita requires a certain amount of practice, but once you dial-in your perfect ratio, it's a really easy cocktail to replicate. The classic recipe is 3 parts tequila, 2 parts triple sec, and 1 part freshly squeezed lime juice, and you should probably start off pretty close to that, but my personal favorite proportions are 4-3-2.

Time 5m

Yield 12 popsicles, 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/4 cups fresh lime juice, plus 4 limes for stabilizing the popsicle sticks (about 8 limes)
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup water
1/4 cup tequila
2 tablespoons orange juice (optional)
kosher salt or margarita salt
12 small paper cups (3oz)
12 popsicle sticks

Steps:

  • In a pitcher or large cocktail shaker, combine the lime juice, sweetened condensed milk, water, tequila, and orange juice. It is important to combine the ingredients in a container that has a spout because it will make it much easier to pour the mix into cups.
  • Line out the Dixie cups on a baking sheet, so it will be easy to transport them to the freezer. Fill each Dixie cup 90% of the way with the tequila mixture.
  • Slice the limes into 1/4 inch thick rounds. Push a craft spoon through the center of each lime round, so that half of the stick pokes out from each side. Top the mixture with the lime sticks. Make sure the lime is resting directly on top of the tequila mixture.
  • Freeze for at least 6 hours, or overnight. When ready to remove the popsicles from the Dixie cups, simply snip a small cut in the rim of each cup and peel them away from the popsicle. Place the popsicles onto a dish with crushed ice to keep them from melting too quickly, Sprinkle the tops generously with kosher salt, and serve.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality tequila. The quality of the tequila you use will greatly affect the taste of your popsicles. Look for a tequila that is 100% agave and has a smooth, clean flavor.
  • Use fresh lime juice. Fresh lime juice will give your popsicles a bright, citrusy flavor. Bottled lime juice can be used in a pinch, but it will not taste as good.
  • Add a little sugar or honey to taste. This will help to balance out the tartness of the lime juice and tequila.
  • Use a blender or food processor to blend the ingredients until smooth. This will help to prevent the popsicles from becoming icy.
  • Pour the mixture into popsicle molds and freeze for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  • Enjoy your refreshing margarita popsicles!

Conclusion:

Margarita popsicles are a fun and easy way to enjoy your favorite cocktail. They are perfect for parties, picnics, or just a hot summer day. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make delicious and refreshing margarita popsicles that everyone will love. So next time you are looking for a cool and refreshing treat, give these margarita popsicles a try. You won't be disappointed!
