1 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda

3 cups quick-cooking oats or rolled oats
FILLING:
2 tablespoons butter
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and eggs. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats by hand. Press two-thirds of mixture into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. , For filling, heat butter, milk and chocolate chips in a saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted. 1 package (12 ounces) white baking chips (2 cups)
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 package (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1/2 cup chopped nuts, if desired

Steps:

  • Butter rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches, or line with aluminum foil, leaving 1 inch of foil overhanging at 2 opposite sides of pan. Heat sugar, milk, butter and cream cheese to boiling in 6-quart Dutch oven over medium-high heat and cook 6 to 8 minutes, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to medium. Cook about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, to 225° on candy thermometer; remove from heat.
