Tips:
- Use quality maple syrup: The quality of the maple syrup you use will greatly affect the taste of your candies. Look for a dark, amber-colored syrup that is labeled "Grade A."
- Toast the walnuts: Toasting the walnuts will bring out their flavor and make them more fragrant. You can toast them in a pan on the stovetop or in the oven.
- Don't overcook the caramel: The caramel should be cooked until it reaches a temperature of 300 degrees Fahrenheit. If you overcook it, it will become too hard and brittle.
- Let the candies cool completely: Before you enjoy your candies, let them cool completely so that they can set properly.
