MAPLE BUTTERSCOTCH BROWNIES

Generally, I'll make a double recipe of these brownies-they go so fast no matter where I take them! I've baked them for family dinners and church suppers, and never had any left over. They're very easy besides plus both keep and freeze well. I've been cooking since I was 10. My husband is retired, and we have four grown children.

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 c butter or margarine, melted
1 1/2 c packed brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp maple flavoring
2 eggs
1 1/2 c all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 c chopped walnuts
confectioners' sugar (powdered sugar)

Steps:

  • 1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Add maple flavoring. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • 2. Combine flour and baking powder; add to creamed mixture. Stir in walnuts.
  • 3. Pour into a greased 9" square baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Dust with confectioners' sugar if desired.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. This will make a big difference in the final product. Choose pure maple syrup, real butter, and good-quality chocolate chips.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the brownies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the brownies in a preheated oven. This will help them to rise evenly.
  • Don't overbake the brownies. Overbaked brownies will be dry and crumbly. Bake them just until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Let the brownies cool completely before frosting them. This will help the frosting to set properly.
  • Store the brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the brownies for up to 2 months.

Conclusion:

These maple butterscotch brownies are the perfect treat for any occasion. They're rich, fudgy, and packed with flavor. Plus, they're easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you're looking for a delicious and indulgent dessert, give these brownies a try.
