Categories     Oatmeal

Time 11m

Yield 1 bowl, 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup rolled oats
1 cup water
1 tablespoon raisins
1 tablespoon golden raisin
1 tablespoon dried cranberries
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoons half-and-half
1/4 apple

Steps:

  • Place oats, dried fruit, sugar and cream in jar and cover with one cup of water.
  • Screw on the lid and shake to mix.
  • If you're using a bowl, stir it with a spoon and then cover with a plate before microwaving.
  • Dice the apple and store in a plastic bag.
  • When ready to prepare remove the jar's lid and microwave the jar for one minute, and stir the contents.
  • Then microwave again for about 1minute and 5 seconds.
  • Stir in the apples and you're ready to go!
  • Of course, you don't have to use apples at all. Nuts are a great addition, as are tons of other mix-ins. I am so happy about making it!

Tips:

  • To achieve the best consistency, use old-fashioned oats. Quick-cooking or instant oats will result in a softer, mushier oatmeal.
  • For a richer flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar.
  • Add a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness of the oatmeal.
  • If you don't have maple extract, you can substitute vanilla extract.
  • Store the oatmeal mix in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months.
  • When you're ready to eat, simply combine 1/2 cup of the oatmeal mix with 1 cup of water or milk in a saucepan.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, or until the oats are tender.
  • Serve the oatmeal hot with your favorite toppings, such as fruit, nuts, or a drizzle of maple syrup.

Conclusion:

This copycat Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal Mix is an easy and delicious way to enjoy a hot, hearty breakfast. It's also a great way to save time and money on busy weekday mornings. With just a few simple ingredients, you can have a delicious and nutritious breakfast that the whole family will love.
