I remember this being served as dessert for a dinner party in Scotland. It is so darn yummy! The flambe also is a magnificent presentation!

Categories     Fruit Desserts

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 peeled bananas
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1/3 c maple syrup
1 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp dark rum, optional
ice cream, optional

Steps:

  • 1. Cut bananas in 1 1/2" thick pieces and place in single layer in buttered 4 c baking dish. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Pour syrup over and dot with butter. Bake at 350 degrees 20 min, turning 2-3 times.
  • 2. To flambe: just before serving, warm rum and ignite. Pour over bananas.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful they will be.
  • Use a variety of toppings: Get creative with your toppings! Try chopped nuts, granola, dried fruit, or even a dollop of whipped cream.
  • Don't overcook the bananas: Keep an eye on the bananas while they're baking. You want them to be soft and caramelized, but not mushy.
  • Serve immediately: Maple-baked bananas are best served warm, right out of the oven. Enjoy them on their own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Conclusion:

Maple-baked bananas are an easy and delicious dessert that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They're perfect for a quick and healthy snack, or as a special treat after a meal. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a dish that is both satisfying and nutritious. So next time you're looking for a sweet and simple dessert, give maple-baked bananas a try!
