Time 8h25m

Yield Makes about 3 pints

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 pounds ripe or overripe mangoes (preferably Champagne)
Pinch of coarse salt
1 teaspoon finely grated lime zest, for sprinkling, plus 1/2 to 1 teaspoon lime juice (from 1 lime)
Lime wedges, for garnish

MANGO LIME SORBET

This recipe is from the ezine Cooks of the World. I like it because the ingredients are easy to find and inexpensive. When my daughter went to camp last year, they served sorbet which she liked. The store-bought variety is expensive (nearly $5 for one litre) so it is nice to know a cheaper version exists.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe mangoes: Use ripe, juicy mangoes for the best flavor. Look for mangoes that are slightly soft to the touch and have a sweet aroma.
  • Freeze the mango chunks: Before making the sorbet, freeze the mango chunks for at least 4 hours or overnight. This will help them blend more smoothly and give the sorbet a creamier texture.
  • Use a high-powered blender: A high-powered blender will help you achieve a smooth and creamy sorbet. If you don't have a high-powered blender, you can use a regular blender, but you may need to blend the sorbet in batches.
  • Add the lime juice and honey gradually: Add the lime juice and honey to the sorbet mixture gradually, tasting as you go. This will help you adjust the flavor to your liking.
  • Chill the sorbet before serving: Once the sorbet is blended, chill it in the freezer for at least 2 hours before serving. This will help it firm up and develop its flavor.

Conclusion:

Mango lime sorbet is a delicious and refreshing treat that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With its sweet and tangy flavor, mango lime sorbet is a surefire hit. So next time you are looking for a refreshing and healthy dessert, give this recipe a try.
