Tips:

  • Selecting ripe mangoes: Choose ripe, fragrant mangoes for the best flavor. Look for mangoes with a deep yellow or orange-red hue and a slight give when pressed gently.
  • Preparing the bread cubes: Use a variety of bread types for a more complex flavor. Stale bread is ideal for bread pudding, as it absorbs the custard mixture better. Cut the bread into small cubes for even cooking.
  • Making the custard base: Whisk the eggs, milk, cream, and sugar until well combined. Add vanilla extract and ground cardamom for extra flavor. For a richer custard, use full-fat milk and cream.
  • Infusing the mango flavor: Puree some of the mangoes and add them to the custard mixture. Alternatively, layer slices of mango between the bread cubes before pouring the custard over.
  • Baking the bread pudding: Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes and let it soak for at least 30 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Serving and garnishing: Let the bread pudding cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh mango slices, whipped cream, or a sprinkle of ground cardamom for extra flavor.

Conclusion:

Indulge in the delightful harmony of flavors and textures with mango cardamom bread pudding. The sweet, juicy mangoes complement the warm spices of cardamom perfectly. Using a variety of bread types adds depth and complexity to the dish. The creamy custard base brings it all together, creating a comforting and satisfying dessert. Whether served warm or chilled, this bread pudding is sure to impress. It's a perfect way to use up leftover bread and enjoy the delicious taste of mangoes in a unique and creative way.
