Time 1h20m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 (18 1/4 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
1 egg
8 tablespoons low-fat butter, melted
1 (8 ounce) package reduced-fat cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
1 egg
4 egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 tablespoons butter, melted
0.5 (16 ounce) box powdered sugar
1/2 cup Splenda granular

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Combine the cake mix, egg, and butter and mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9-inch baking pan.
  • To make the filling: In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and peanut butter until smooth. Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter, and beat together. Next, add the powdered sugar and mix well. Spread peanut butter mixture over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to overbake as the center should be a little gooey.
  • Serve with fresh whipped cream.

Tips:

  • Choose the right chocolate. The type of chocolate you use will greatly affect the flavor of your cake. For a rich, decadent cake, use a high-quality dark chocolate. If you prefer a sweeter cake, you can use milk chocolate or semisweet chocolate.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing the batter can result in a tough, dense cake. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cake at the right temperature. The ideal baking temperature for a chocolate cake is 350 degrees Fahrenheit. If you bake the cake at a higher temperature, it may burn on the outside before the inside is cooked through.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting it. This will help the frosting to set properly and prevent it from becoming runny.
  • Use a high-quality peanut butter. The peanut butter you use will also greatly affect the flavor of your cake. Choose a peanut butter that is smooth and creamy, and has a rich peanut flavor.

Conclusion:

This gooey chocolate peanut butter cake is the perfect dessert for any occasion. It's rich, decadent, and packed with chocolate and peanut butter flavor. The cake is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. You can use different types of chocolate, peanut butter, and frosting. You can also add other ingredients to the cake, such as chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or peanut butter cups. No matter how you make it, this cake is sure to be a hit!
