BEST GARLIC TOAST (QUICK & EASY!)

BEST Garlic Toast (Quick & Easy!) image

Here's the very best garlic toast you'll find! Ultra garlicky, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside: and it takes only 10 minutes to make.

Provided by Sonja Overhiser

Categories     Side Dish

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

12 small round slices of a large baguette or Italian bread (homemade or store bought)*
2 cloves garlic (2 teaspoons finely minced)
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Garlic powder, for sprinkling
Finely chopped Italian parsley, for the garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Thinly slice the bread.
  • Mince the garlic. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic with the olive oil, dried oregano, and salt. Use a brush to brush the mixture on both sides of each slice of bread and place them onto a baking sheet. Try to pick up some of the minced garlic with the brush, as it tends to sink to the bottom. (If the oil runs out, depending on your size of bread, just add a splash more to the bowl with the garlic.)
  • Add a pinch of garlic powder to the top of each toast.
  • Bake for 5 minutes until the crust is crisp but the inside is still soft. If desired, sprinkle with finely chopped Italian parsley. Enjoy immediately.

MAKE AHEAD GARLIC TOAST OMAC

Make Ahead Garlic Toast Omac image

This makes a delicious garlic toast that I make for my family about once a week with spaghetti or a simlar dish. My family of 4 never uses even half a loaf of french bread to make garlic toast, but it is a must have for italian dinners in our house so I came up with this recipe to reduce waste and save me some time. You can't even tell it has been frozen.

Time 30m

Yield 48 Slices, 48 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 loaves French bread (16 oz each)
1 cup butter, at room temperature
2 tablespoons bottled garlic (minced)
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 -4 tablespoons parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons dried parsley

Steps:

  • Slice French bread into slices about 3/4" thick. I usually get about 24 slices per loaf.
  • If needed soften butter in microwave on low power for 30 - 60 seconds until it is soft enough to mix the seasonings into and spread easily.
  • Add remaining ingredients and stir well.
  • Spread a little more than 1 tsp of mixture onto each slice of bread.
  • Flash freeze the slices layed out flat on cookie sheets in your freezer. (This is important if you freeze them in a stack they are very hard to seperate later.).
  • Stack into groups as your family would eat with one meal and wrap in saran wrap. I usually make a package of 6.
  • When ready to use bake right from freezer at 350 degrees for 4 - 8 minutes depending on how crispy you like your toast.
  • *For an extra sinful garlic toast sprinkle with mozzarella cheese before baking.

Tips:

  • To make the garlic butter, use a microplane to finely grate the garlic cloves. This will help the garlic flavor distribute evenly throughout the butter.
  • Use good quality bread for the garlic toast. A sturdy bread, such as a baguette or ciabatta, will hold up well to the garlic butter and toasting.
  • Be generous with the garlic butter when brushing it on the bread. This will ensure that the garlic toast is flavorful and delicious.
  • Toast the garlic toast until it is golden brown and crispy. This will help to bring out the flavor of the garlic butter and make the toast more enjoyable.
  • Serve the garlic toast immediately while it is still warm and crispy. It can be served as a side dish or appetizer, or it can be used to make sandwiches.

Conclusion:

Make-ahead garlic toast is a delicious and convenient way to enjoy this classic side dish. By preparing the garlic butter and toasting the bread ahead of time, you can have garlic toast ready in just a few minutes. This makes it a great option for busy weeknights or for entertaining guests. Whether you serve it as a side dish, appetizer, or sandwich, make-ahead garlic toast is sure to be a hit.
