Tips:
- To ensure the macadamia nut crust adheres properly to the mahi-mahi, pat the fish dry before applying the crust.
- Use a food processor to finely chop the macadamia nuts and panko breadcrumbs together, creating a uniform and cohesive crust.
- For a bolder flavor profile, use roasted macadamia nuts in the crust. Toasting enhances the nutty flavor and adds a touch of smokiness.
- If you prefer a crispy crust, use a combination of butter and olive oil when searing the fish. Butter provides a rich flavor, while olive oil helps achieve a golden-brown crust.
- To prevent the fish from sticking to the pan, ensure the cooking surface is hot before adding the fish. Additionally, do not move the fish around the pan excessively while cooking.
- For an elegant presentation, garnish the cooked mahi-mahi with fresh herbs, such as cilantro, parsley, or chives. A squeeze of lemon juice can also enhance the flavor and add a pop of color.
