¾ teaspoon baking powder
⅛ teaspoon salt
¼ cup whole milk
2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Yield 18 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 cup peanut butter, creamy or crunchy
1 1/3 cups sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a large baking sheet. In a mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, 1 cup of the sugar, the egg, and vanilla, and stir well with a spoon. Roll the dough into balls the size of walnuts. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet. With a fork, press a crisscross design on each cookie. Bake for 12 minutes, remove from the oven, and sprinkle the cookies with some of the remaining sugar. Cool slightly before removing from pan.

Tips:

  • The key to achieving melt-in-your-mouth peanut butter cookies lies in the chilling step. Making sure the dough is well chilled before baking helps to create a denser, more flavorful cookie with a perfect texture.
  • For an authentic Paula Deen experience, use creamy peanut butter. Avoid using natural or chunky peanut butter, as these variations can result in a drier, less cohesive dough.
  • If the dough is too crumbly or difficult to handle, add a tablespoon or two of milk until it reaches a smooth, pliable consistency.
  • To ensure even baking, flatten each dough ball slightly before placing it on the baking sheet. This will allow the cookies to spread evenly and cook uniformly.
  • Keep an eye on the cookies during baking to prevent overbaking. The cookies are ready when the edges are golden brown and the centers are set but still slightly soft.
  • Allow the cookies to cool completely before enjoying. This allows the flavors to develop fully and the cookies to firm up to their perfect texture.

Conclusion:

Paula Deen's Magic Peanut Butter Cookies are a true culinary delight, offering a perfect balance of flavors and textures. With their rich peanut butter taste, chewy centers, and crispy edges, these cookies are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. Whether you're a seasoned baker or a novice in the kitchen, following these tips will ensure that your peanut butter cookie-making experience is a magical one.
