Tips:
- Prep ingredients beforehand: Dice bacon, slice mushrooms, and cook pasta according to package instructions before assembling the casserole. This will save time and ensure everything is ready when you need it.
- Use a variety of cheeses: The recipe calls for cheddar and Parmesan, but you can also add mozzarella, Gruyère, or any other type of cheese you like. This will add flavor and texture to the casserole.
- Don't overcook the pasta: The pasta should be cooked al dente, or slightly firm to the bite. This will prevent it from becoming mushy in the casserole.
- Use a large baking dish: The casserole will bubble up during baking, so it's important to use a baking dish that is large enough to accommodate it. A 9x13 inch baking dish is a good size.
- Bake until golden brown: The casserole is done baking when the top is golden brown and bubbly. This usually takes about 30 minutes.
