Time 1h15m

1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 package (4-serving size) butterscotch or vanilla pudding and pie filling mix (not instant)

Tips:

  • Prep your baking pan: Generously grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan to prevent the sticky buns from sticking. You can also use parchment paper for easy removal.
  • Activate the yeast: Ensure that the yeast is active before proceeding with the recipe. Proof the yeast in warm milk with a bit of sugar for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  • Make a soft dough: The dough should be soft and slightly sticky, but not too wet. If it's too sticky, add a bit more flour. If it's too dry, add a splash of milk.
  • Let the dough rise: Allow the dough to rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size. This step is crucial for the buns to become light and fluffy.
  • Roll out the dough: Roll out the dough into a large rectangle, about 12x18 inches. Make sure the dough is not too thin, as it might tear when you roll it up.
  • Spread the filling: Evenly distribute the macadamia nut filling over the rolled-out dough. Press down gently to ensure the filling adheres to the dough.
  • Roll up the dough: Starting from one of the long edges, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Pinch the edges together to seal the filling inside.
  • Cut the buns: Use a sharp knife to cut the dough log into 12 even pieces. Arrange the buns in the prepared baking pan, leaving some space between each bun.
  • Proof the buns again: Cover the baking pan with plastic wrap or a damp cloth and let the buns rise again for about 30 minutes, or until they have noticeably risen.
  • Bake the buns: Preheat your oven to the desired temperature and bake the buns for the specified time, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Make the glaze: While the buns are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. This glaze will add a sweet and shiny coating to the buns.

Conclusion:

These irresistible macadamia nut sticky buns are a perfect treat for breakfast, brunch, or a special occasion. With their soft and fluffy texture, gooey filling, and sweet glaze, they are sure to be a hit among family and friends.
